With the New Year often comes a reset after spending some quality time with family and friends to allow for an even more productive year ahead. Here at Closet and Storage Concepts, we’ve already shared some general tips for getting the new year off to a great start, so today we’re diving into organizing an essential space in your home: the office. Here are some ways to get the year off to a great start by re-energizing your home office!
Go Bold
Bold colors can help to energize your space and positively affect your productivity. If you have created an office out of a closet, this is even better as the boldness will be a bit unexpected. Try bright teals, oranges, even fuchsias, or lime greens.
You can feature a bold color in small amounts, if you’d prefer a more neutral desk surface color, such as on your chair fabric, or on the frames of art work.
All Systems Go
A productive office is often an organized office. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean that every surface is pristine; you need a customized solution that fits your unique needs.
For example, some people are naturally pilers not filers. However, this does not mean that their offices are a dump. They have their own system that makes them the most productive. Pilers often create piles to sort out various paperwork and receipts to return to them later. If you are a piler, try out desk trays that can easily stack until you are ready for them. For the filers, there are also a number of stylish options in the forms of portable file cabinets, and dividers for your desk for more urgent documents.
For smaller items, or even crafts, try drawer separators or tins to house them in before setting them into a drawer.
Get Comfy
Well not too comfortable especially if it limits your productivity. However, your office can still be inviting and a good chair can make you comfortable and productive. Pick a chair that provides enough support when you will be writing or typing so as not to cause discomfort or joint problems.
You can also create cool-down zones that offer a relaxing space to take a break after you’ve accomplished a major task. This can come in the form of a sitting area, a nook to read a book, a beanbag, or even a yoga mat. Whatever works best for you, this should be an area that when you come back to your desk you feel refreshed and ready to accomplish even more!
