Labor Day is right around the corner. Here’s a quick list of projects you can try to accomplish before then.
Small Home Tidy Up
Whether it’s doing a quick tidy up throughout your home, cleaning the floors, or organizing your cookbooks, finishing up small home tasks this weekend is a great way to feel refreshed. As summer comes to a close, it’s a smart time to clean beach pails and summer toys and store them away for next year.
Declutter For Fall Fashion
Before you buy new clothes for fall, give your closets a little TLC. Declutter items you haven’t touched in over a year, and mend items so you can wear them come autumn. Decluttering your wardrobe is a great way to prevent duplicate purchases and will help you save money. If you need other ideas of what to declutter, be sure to see all of our decluttering articles.
Prepare for Back to School
Many schools around the country may already be back in session, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make things better or get ahead. Fill out a calendar with all of the activities and events that are coming up in the next couple of weeks to get the whole family synced up. Then head to the fridge and freezer and do a clear out. It’s a perfect time to make sure snacks are stocked and ready for lunch time meals. Make a grocery list and inspire a new habit of food prepping and planning to make weeknight dinners a breeze.
Check Your Home
With the windier days of autumn approaching, give your home an inspection. Check for gaps around windows and doors. Make adjustments to seal up these leaks so you can be more efficient when heating your home come winter time. In addition, give your HVAC system a check and make sure everything is working properly. While you’re at it, install a new air filter as allergens can spike during the spring and summer.
Don’t forget to check your exterior! See if there are any potential branches near your home or car that could cause damage during a storm. Also, do a quick check to make sure your gutters are ready for any potential moisture. If you plan on doing any stains or exterior paint projects, now is the time to do it before the cooler days of autumn.
Schedule an In-Home Appointment
Make an appointment with a designer or contractor so you can finally get the ball rolling on home renovations. Let us help you take the stress out of getting organized by calling one of our local designers! They’ll come to your home and help you get exactly what you want. Our stores are all independently operated so you can rest assured that each person you work with is a local expert.
Checking off these items will let you relax and spend Labor Day with friends and family!
