Creating A Back To School Calendar

  • by

calendar with back to school dateWhile for some of us, it may seem like the summer has only just started, by preparing in advance for back to school, you’ll be able to navigate the headaches and hiccups of this time of tumultuous change with ease. Planning a calendar well in advance will make it easier for you to stay on track and stick to your goals while preparing for the start of September. Use these tips from Closet & Storage Concepts of Boston, Massachusetts, in order to help you stay organized both this summer and beyond!

Shopping Strategy

Back to school shopping can be stressful, and it can be hard to navigate budgets, needs versus wants, crowds, sales and so on. Having a shopping strategy is a great way to make sure you stay on track when it comes to replacing outgrown items. Make a master list of items that you really need. If all the hems on the kids’ pants are creeping ever higher with new growth spurts, then it will be important to invest in new ones. Items like backpacks and so on that can still be used won’t need replacements. Try and sell the outgrown items to make a little profit, and donate the rest. Try to avoid crowds of last-minute shoppers, but still get a good deal with a bit of planning. By looking at when the sales are you can plan your shopping days on weekday mornings, for example, to get the best deals without the stress of big crowds.

Morning Madness

One of the big transitions that you’ll have to go through with heading back to school is the transition from lazy summer lie-ins to strict morning routines at early hours. To avoid the abruptness of this transition, schedule incremental changes where you start the day progressively earlier leading up to the first day of school, so that when that day does come around the kids will be prepared, and so will you!

Practice Run

Schedule a practice run on the calendar before school starts. Go through the motions that you would take on the first day and plan your driving route, the first-day outfits, the first-day breakfasts, and so on. With a dry run under your belt, you’ll be more than prepared to face the dramas and pitfalls that might come your way on the first day.
