Every home has an entryway, and here at Closet and Storage Concepts of Charlotte, North Carolina, we think every entryway has a few storage needs. This month, we’re honing our organizational focus in on the last space you see in the morning and the first space you come home to at night. Read on to find out the entryway storage solutions that ensure a smoother transition into your home.
- Shoe storage—One of the best moves you can make to protect your home from unwanted dirt, allergens, and more is to ask your guests (and your family members!) to take their shoes off as soon as they enter the house. While preferences vary on whether or not to remove shoes in the home, there’s no denying that opting to go without helps keep your space a little cleaner. To make all of your guests feel more comfortable with the request, though, be sure to have shoe storage available to them in your entryway—preferably storage that’s out of the reach of children or pets. A bench with storage space is a nice way to incorporate seating for guests to remove their footwear while also giving them a place for their shoes as they visit.
- Outerwear storage—An entryway’s key function is to help us transition from the outdoor world to the indoor world and vice versa. Creating designated spaces for your coats, hats, and umbrellas will help you remember to leave the home prepared and help protect your interior from dirt and grime when you return.
- Purse and key storage—Without designated homes, purses and keys are likely to become counter clutter at best, and likely to get lost at worst. Adding hooks to your entryway is one way to create an easy, low-cost, station to store your things.
- Mail storage—Adding a mail sorting station to your entryway can simplify your organizational life. We often suggest adding a table to an entryway that houses an inbox for important mail and a rubbish bin underneath the table that stops junk mail in its tracks.
