Avoid Fridge Clutter (Inside And Out)

A crowded fridge is a sure-fire way to make your home look messy in a hurry. Try to limit the condiments to the door and organize things in a way that will make sense visually to someone opening your fridge for the first time. Keeping leftovers together in one place will help you cut down on food waste and also keep you from losing things to the back of the fridge. The clutter-downsizing shouldn’t stop when you close the door though, keep in mind that the outside of your fridge can be just as messy as the inside. We all love to have family photos and other things on the fridge, but take a monthly survey and get rid of things that don’t need to be there. Holiday cards in July? Take em down. Expired coupons and old receipts are also common examples of unnecessary fridge clutter.

“Clean” Doesn’t Mean “Organized”

This may seem like a semantic argument, but there is a distinct difference between “clean” and “organized.” A set of piles on the kitchen counter may seem organized, but if you are just using them to put off going through bills or junk mail, you will see those piles turn into clutter in no time. Taking the time to organize things as you clean will allow your clean house to stay that way in the future!

An Entryway Is A Terrible Thing To Waste

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so make sure that your entryway looks great and is well organized. Provide a place for guests to hang jackets and store shoes, so that they aren’t blocking the door for anyone arriving later. A table near the front door, if possible, is also a nice touch because it allows you to leave keys or notes for family members in a can’t-miss location.

Don’t Skip Labels!

If you live alone, you may not see the need for this tip but anyone living with roommates or family members will understand just how important this can be. Labeling things are the only way to ensure that all of your well-laid organizational plans actually come to fruition.

Control Your Cords

In our wired world, cords are unavoidable. The ugliness of them, on the other hand, is something you can definitely combat. Try using Velcro loops to bunch cords together and keep them from developing a mind of their own. Simply consolidating your cords in this manner will help make your house look incredible!

Once you’ve implemented these tips, you might be thinking about making some bigger organizational changes in your home. If you’re in the market for a custom closet solution, an update to your garage or much more, give us a call at Closet & Storage Concepts of Colorado today!
