Even though we still have a few months of winter left, it’s time to start thinking about your spring cleaning plans this year. If you have any big projects planned, now is the time to get a head start on planning. Check out some of our tips for preparing for a successful spring clean!

Do your research

If you have a big project planned, like replacing your roof, painting your home, or updating your floors, use this time to research. If you need to hire a company or contractor to help with your project, ask for recommendations from trusted friends and family. Research any company you are considering doing business with online and read reviews from past customers. Pick paint colors, narrow down flooring choices, and plan your spring garden ahead of time so that when spring rolls around, you’ll be ready to go!

Prioritize

You may have a bunch of different projects you’d like to get done this spring. While it’s certainly not impossible to accomplish everything, you should take some time to prioritize your list. What are the most important tasks you’d like to get done? Move those to the top of the list, and focus your planning efforts around those. Similarly, it’s a good idea to move any big projects to the top of the list. Small tasks like replacing light bulbs and cleaning windows don’t require much planning, so you won’t need as much prepping time for those.

Budget

This is also a great time to plan your spring cleaning budget. You can either start with a fixed budget and work your projects into that or build a budget around your “must-do’s”. You may be able to DIY many projects, but there are some that will require professional help, such as building a custom garage storage system. Using a budget will also help you prioritize your list. You may want to completely re-landscape your yard this spring, but if it’s not in the budget, you shouldn’t waste any time researching or planning it.
