Bring Light To Your Nevada Home

  • by

With summer at its peak, now is the time to start thinking about how to make updates to your home to ensure you’re getting the most out of your space. Most would agree that having natural light in their home is a must-have. While most homes will have some form of natural light coming through the windows, there is always room to improve. At Closet & Storage Concepts Nevada, we are experts in coming up with home improvements ideas for a variety of home types. You don’t have to buy a new home or do a complete remodel to bring more natural light into your home. Instead, consider one of these tricks to help bring more light into your Nevada home:

Choose a new color palette

Start with assessing the color theme you have in each room. Replace any dark blocks or statement wallpaper with something lighter. This will allow the light to reflect off the walls and create more natural light, instead of just absorbing it. Avoid using whites with a blue undertone, as this may make the space feel cold. Using off-whites will create a warmer, more welcoming feel to the room. In addition, paint the ceilings an even lighter shade than the walls to create the illusion of even more height and space than there actually is in the room.

Brighten up your space with light furniture

Once the walls and ceilings are lightened up, consider adding in new furniture if your current accessories are darker. Consider reorganizing the layout of the room if your current setup is blocking a window or door. Placing the new furniture in spaces around the natural light of doors and windows will allow you to maximize the amount of light coming in while enhancing it with the lighter shades of furniture and accessories.

Use shiny surfaces

Similar to using lighter shades on the walls and ceilings, using shiny surfaces will allow the light to reflect off and into the room. Adding in mirrors can also create the illusion that there is more space in the room while diffusing the natural light from the windows. Glossy counters, metallic accents, and glass surfaces all work as great surfaces to reflect light.
