Summer is quickly approaching and outdoor enthusiasts everywhere are cheering. When the weekend arrives the last thing you want to do is waste precious time searching for the equipment you’ll need on your adventure. The experts at Closet & Storage Concepts Modesto have compiled the four keys to organizing all your outdoor gear.
Organize By Use
One of the most effective ways to organize outdoor gear is to put like with like. Separate items by activity. Put camping gear, hiking equipment, winter sport necessities, etc. into separate bins. Further organize activities that have more gear, by use. For example, put camping gear into separate bins for shelter, food, and ground equipment. Once you’ve categorized everything into bins store them on shelves.
Vertical Space
Organizational wisdom always suggests utilizing vertical space. But with outdoor gear consider the weight of the item when you store it. Store lighter items like sleeping bags, ropes, etc. on higher shelves because they’ll be easier to pull down or put away. Heavier items like tents should go near the bottom.
Create Additional Storage
Despite their primary function being to carry things, most of us store backpacks empty. But backpacks can still hold gear when they’re not in use. If you have multiple backpacks, designate a backpack for each activity and then store related gear inside. That way your bag will always be ready to go with everything you need.
Labels
Label everything. No matter how neatly you organize your gear, if you don’t know what’s inside each box you will still have a headache on your hands. Save yourself the hassle of going through each box to find what you’re looking for and clearly label each bin before putting it away.
