Shoes can be difficult to store. They come in all different shapes, take up a lot of room, and tend to end up in piles on the floor. If you’re tried to keep your shoe collection organized, but can’t quite seem to find the perfect system, read on!

  1. Shoe racks

Owning multiple shoe racks in a variety of styles can help keep your shoe collection under control. Always keep a shoe rack by your front door or any other frequently used entryway. People tend to leave shoes by doors, so having a designated place to store those shoes helps keep things looking neat. In closets, over-the-door shoe racks are a great option when space is limited. These hangers have pockets where you can store pairs of shoes together. This type of shoe storage takes up no floor space, making it a great choice for small closets and bedrooms.

  1. Shoeboxes

If you have ample shelving in your closet, storing shoes in a shoebox is a great idea. Not only does this limit visual clutter, but it also saves space because shoeboxes are easy to stack. You can label each box with the shoe it contains, or even take a picture of the shoe and tape it on the outside of the box. This will make it easy for you to find the shoe you’re looking for without having to open up a bunch of boxes.

  1. Under-bed storage

Storing shoes in long under-bed storage bins is a great way to take advantage of otherwise unused space. These bins are relatively inexpensive and keep shoes contained and out of sight.

  1. Organize by season

There’s no need to have your winter boots on display when its 80 degrees outside, and vice versa. Put winter boots and shoes in storage during the spring and summer months, and swap them out for sandals when the temperatures drop. This will free up space in your closet, making more room for the shoes you’ll actually use that season.
