The entryway is one of the busiest areas of your home. However, it often gets overlooked when it comes to storage. Here at Closet & Storage Concepts, we know that having the right system in place is crucial for an organized home. Read on for our four storage and organization “must-haves” for your entryway!
- Coat hooks: Coat hooks aren’t just for storing coats! Use them to hang purses, tote bags, umbrellas, and keys. These handy hooks take up zero floor space, making them indispensable for small spaces. For even more storage, use a coat rack with a built-in shelf above it. Place baskets or small bins on the shelf to store wallets and spare change.
- Shoe rack: It seems like nearly every entryway is plagued with a pile of unruly shoes. If your family tends to kick off their shoes and leave them in a heap by the front door, a sizable shoe rack is a must. A good rule of thumb is to have enough storage for two pairs of shoe per person in your household.
- Storage bench: Storage benches are great for entryways because they pull double duty, acting as both extra storage and a place to sit. We love using storage cubes underneath benches to keep miscellaneous items organized. This is a great place to keep things like dog leashes, hats and gloves, and water bottles.
- Message board: If you and your family are constantly on the go, having a message board of some kind in your home’s entryway is a great way to stay organized. Use it to write grocery lists, jot down to-do’s, notify family members of appointments, and keep track of important dates. Hang your message board so it’s visible upon entry and easy for everyone to see. If you’re concerned about an unsightly board clashing with your home’s décor, don’t worry! There are lots of options out there, from sleek to rustic, or get creative and make your own!
