Murphy beds are just one way to create more space in your Philadelphia area home. They have been around since the early 1900s, and we have been installing them for over 30 years! There are many different murphy wall bed styles to fit your needs and your space. Here are just a few of the most popular styles that we’ve seen (and installed) for our customers.

Standard Pull Down

The most popular wall bed movement and mechanism that we install is the standard pull down. The bed, available in a number of sizes including twin and queen, is stored vertically in a cabinet. When you need to transform your living room or home office, you simply pull the wall bed down from the wall. The cabinet doors open to the sides, or they can be stored back in the cabinets for a cleaner look when the bed is in use. If you’re worried about potential safety hazards, our installers will securely anchor your wall bed unit in addition to giving you a complete overview and training of how to properly use it. It’s very safe and easy to use – many of our clients even let their children use it.

With Other Storage Units

We also frequently incorporate a murphy bed with other storage units such as with bookshelves or even combining it with a desk in a home office. Some Murphy beds are even be concealed in a reach-in closet. Be sure to call one of our designers to see how we can incorporate a wall bed in your space.

Horizontal Wall Beds

Horizontal options are also available. Instead of pulling down vertically, you pull the wall bed down from the horizontal side of the bed. One benefit to this orientation is that it can often be concealed in a smaller cabinet (often the size of a credenza). This style of wall bed can also be good depending on the size of your space. Some of these beds can even be combined with a desk to make the most of a small apartment or townhome.
