The holidays are often a stressful time of year and can cause major headaches. Luckily, your South Jersey and Philadelphia team of organizers are here to make sure the Grinch in you doesn’t interfere with your holiday plans. Take these five steps to stay sane this season.

  1. Make a To-Do List

Making a to-do list can help you stay sane by making it easy to see what you need to do or buy and can help you keep track of your schedule. Don’t forget that you can always adjust your to-do list as the day progresses. Writing things down can give you piece of mind that you haven’t forgotten any task.

  1. A Present a Day

Don’t let wrapping gifts sneak up on you. Vow to wrap a couple of gifts each night to cut down on last minute wrapping. Wrapping just one or two gifts a day is generally less stressful than wrapping a pile of them all at once. You could also consider giving gifts away in bags, which is generally less cumbersome than wrapping items.

  1. Prepare Early When Possible

Do as much as you can before holiday parties, especially if you’re hosting or cooking, to reduce stress on the day of the event. Place pre-cooked items in the freezer or fridge, then simply heat up items half an hour or an hour before your shindig kicks off. Pies and many other baked goods can be cooked ahead of time since they won’t spoil as fast.

Preparing or baking early can give you more time to get ready around the house or run last minute errands. Planning ahead will also make it easy to plan grocery trips.

  1. Take a Day Off

Take a day off for yourself and take a breather from the holiday frenzy. Go out with friends for a relaxed dinner and movie, or take a spa day to detox. Even taking a couple of hours at the end of your day to have a warm bath and curl up with a book before bed can help relieve stress points.

  1. It Will be Okay

Even if you didn’t put decorations up or limited how many gifts you gave, just remember that this time of year isn’t about a done up house or presents. It’s about the presence of people you love or doing something that you love to do. Just say, “It’s okay,” and know that you’ve done all you can. There’s always time to plan for next year if you want to amp up the festivity.
