If you have a busy household with lots of family members running in and out of the house, it can be easy for laundry to pile up quickly. Don’t let laundry time be daunting, check out these tips and tricks on how to make laundry time easier – and maybe even enjoy it!
Organizing a full household and cleaning up after children can be stressful and make your day can feel endless. At the end of the day when you’re tired, is no time to dig into a giant pile of laundry. To motivate yourself to do laundry, try to change your mindset from laundry as a chore, to using laundry time as a peaceful moment for yourself or a learning moment for your kids.
Decorate!
One of the ways to feel less stressed in your laundry room is by decorating accordingly. Try to aim for a cool-toned color such as blues and green. Studies have shown that paint color and room details can have a strong effect on your mood.
Next, have multiple different labeled bins for different types of laundry (delicates, whites, bright colors, black, etc). Then designate a labeled space for each family member where they can leave their laundry basket.

Get the family involved:
If you have a bigger family with older children and want them to start doing their own laundry an organized, simple, laundry room is the way to go. If you’re worried about your kids being frustrated trying to do laundry, you can even create a simple graphic explaining things like what temperature to set the washer at, what certain symbols mean, and how to pre-treat stains. Then, you can even hang this up in your laundry room for your children to use as a reference.
As for the process, for younger children, you can have a drop zone so they know where to put dirty clothes. Older children can then separate colors and help you with the individual loads or treat any stains that need to be treated.
