With the big turkey day just a few days away, we thought we’d give you some last minute tips so you can get everything in order. You can even use them before any other party that you host.

Set the Menu

Before you start planning your decorations, be sure to set the menu. Creating the menu often indicates that you have determined the number of guests that you are expecting. This means that you can properly prepare for the number of portions you need to make as well as what you are making as some guests prefer certain foods. Setting the menu should be one of the earliest decisions you make, as it will also dictate what you need to buy. If you have a dish that calls for special ingredients, this will be especially important to confirm as soon as possible. Be sure to give your fridge, freezer, and pantry a good clean out before you go shopping. This way, you’ll have enough room to store the bird and all your ingredients while limiting duplicate purchases. Looking to completely utilize the storage space in your pantry? Try a custom solution. It will help flex to your needs whether you’re hosting an intimate dinner party or full-on cocktail party for fifty.

Set the Table

Once the menu has been set and the guest list has been confirmed, don’t neglect your decorations. Simply setting the table can be a great way to add some festivity to your home without having to go all out in every room. Plus, Thanksgiving usually centers on a meal, so the table is a good place to start decorating. Go with the expensive plates and cutlery, or choose the standard paper plate depending on your desired atmosphere. Choose, or make, a suitable centerpiece to really bring everything together. Candles can help set the atmosphere, but may not be the best if you have younger children at the table.

If you have a few spare moments, give your entryway a good sweep. It’s an easy way to make your home seem cleaner and to give a good impression as most guests will be entering and exiting from here.

Best Dressed

Be the hostess with the most-est by planning ahead – including your wardrobe. If you want to look your best after all the sweat and effort you’ve put, be sure to plan for it. Get your dress pressed, or simply lay out what you want to wear ahead of time. A valet rod can come in handy when preparing for special parties or everyday work attire. By simply spending a few minutes deciding on an outfit and how much time you need to get ready, you’ll be able to make sure everything runs smoothly and you feel confident, too!
