At Closet & Storage Concepts of Phoenix/Scottsdale, we do more than just closets and home offices! We can even makeover your laundry room. Use these tips to make laundry time easier and to create a more functional space.
Sorting Clothes
Sorting clothes is easier with multiple hampers. Work hidden hampers that easily slide out into your laundry storage and get kids into the habit of helping you sort. Using them in your closet unit can also make laundry easier. You can also incorporate a basket or bin for items that need to go to the dry cleaners. Affix a label or tag on the bag with your contact information to make it even easier to drop-off.
Drying Areas
After the laundry is done, you’ll likely have some pieces that shouldn’t be put into a dryer. Make sure you have a dedicated area for these items!
Work in hanging areas, a wardrobe lift, or a place to stow your drying rack. Drying items can also be great on your wallet since you don’t have to pay for the electric bill! Tall cabinets or installing a rod underneath your cabinets can create the hanging area you need. A wardrobe lift, which can also be used in a closet, can keep items up and out of the way while they dry.
Detergents and Cleaners
Detergents, cleaners, dryer sheets, and bags for delicates all need a place in your laundry room. A few of our favorite options include rollable carts with multiple shelves or drawers, pullout drawers and shelves, and overhead shelving.
Carts can be particularly useful if you don’t have a lot of cleaners or a very small utility room. These carts can come with a table top for folding or air drying sweaters with room for all of your other cleaning supplies underneath. Pullout drawers and shelves that are built into your cabinet units are a clever way to store all of your supplies. It also makes reaching for cleaning detergents very easy. And when you want to store them out of sight, they slide right back into the cabinet unit giving a very streamlined looking space. Shelving and cabinets above your washer and dryer units are great for keeping hazardous cleaners out of young hands. Opt for frosted glass doors to give cabinets a less claustrophobic design.
Broom, Mop, and Vacuum Storage
Slim and tall cabinets are perfect for brooms, mops, and the vacuum. Put hooks on the doors of your cabinets to hold a dustpan and smaller tools. Over-the-door units can keep spare vacuum bags and other cleaning tools and supplies. It’s a way to further customize and utilize your cabinets.
