Backwoods/ Lined Backboard

We design and build closets fit for your budget. If you’d like something more upscale, one way to add a classy appearance is with backboards. Choosing wood (we recently used sycamore in the project photo above) can add a unique design feature as a result of the veining and wood patterns. A simple solid color or beadboard can also give your closet a more finished look. This gives a more upscale look since you don’t see the back of the wall.

Mirror, Mirror on the Door

Mirrors are common additions to add light to a space. In a closet, they are also practical so you can plan and see what your outfit looks like before heading out the door. Add mirrors to tall cabinets for a full-length view. They’ll also give a high-end look to your closet compared to regular cabinet doors.

Add Molding

Molding, like fluted pieces, toe kicks, or even typical “crown” molding all give a luxurious look. These allow the closet systems to look built in. You can choose from different molding styles to match your décor. Flat styles are one of our most common and work with just about any cabinet or door style. For a more traditional touch, choose something that looks more decorative and has more lines.

Add Lighting

Under-cabinet or in-cabinet lighting will give a luxurious look as it is an additional feature that not everyone chooses to incorporate. It is practical in that it can add visibility while also adding drama. Lighting can highlight some of your favorite pieces if they are stored in a cabinet with glass inserts.

Consider Materials

One of the biggest factors in a luxurious closet design are the materials that you choose. This applies to both the cabinet units, but also the hardware. Use durable materials like high-grade furniture melamine or thermofoil that can withstand a lot of wear and will look great for years to come. For an even more luxurious look and feel, solid wood is the way to go. Use scratch-resistant metals for drawer folds, hanging rods, and more for added durability.
