Paradise Valley, AZ is a tight-knit community in the Phoenix Valley that has plenty of stunning views, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, and a plethora of hiking and walking trails. In one of our most recent closet installs, we wanted to celebrate the unique area with a retro-style design using a two-tone look.
Design Selections
Mid-century design is a style that is coming back in popularity from the 1930s to 1960s. The colors we used in this closet are sumptuous and are evocative of the classic Eames recliner using black and warm wood tones. The closet units help offset the lighter textured walls and plush carpet floors.
Wood cabinet and drawer fronts were used in certain sections of this custom closet to help add visual interest in the space. The dark wood fronts bring warmth and draw from the black surrounding units. The overall design fits with the rest of this home which the owners love.
Unobtrusive flat panel cabinets give another nod to mid-century modern design without feeling dated. Simple drawer pull tabs are understated, functional, and pair well with the black cabinets.
Plenty Of Storage
One tenant of mid-century modern design is that design should be functional. These closets are a great of example of increasing functionality and beauty in a home.
There is plenty of storage with hanging areas, drawers, cabinets, and shelves. A central island houses a set of drawers that use a mix of materials. A sturdy countertop in black is the perfect place to display photos and perfume and other elements.
Cabinets and shelves are perfect for bags and shoes. One of the shelves has built-in dividers which are perfect for keeping shoes and handbags lined up. Cabinets conceal valuables and clutter without compromising on storage space. Drawers are the perfect place for undergarments, sweaters, loungewear, and other foldable items. Double hang areas create enough room for suits, skirts, blouses, and separates.
