Storage & Layout
A central wall unit houses the TV and audio and visual equipment. Symmetrical cabinets and shelves surrounding the TV will provide storage for photos, mementos, games, and more. Another set of built-in shelves using the same design is near the entertainment center. This auxiliary storage unit will be the perfect place for china and serving dishes.
Design Details
On to the fun part – the design! Special consideration was taken to ensure that cords would not be visible in the completed project. A custom media center is a great way to minimize visual clutter from cords.
Glass
Glass is a major part of this design and gives a very contemporary and modern look. Glass shelves and door fronts make it easy to see everything. Glass cabinet fronts are also great at keeping dust and grime out of electronics and serving dishes. Using glass is a great way to maximize light compared to wood finishes that do not reflect light. If you have smaller children, we recommend using our wood materials as they are not as delicate.
Neutral Colors
A cool, light gray wood backs the cabinets to add dimension and separation from the beige wall color without being garish. Matching molding and toe kicks finish the wall units. Simple metal tab pulls were installed along cabinets and almost blend in completely with the cabinet panels.
Extra Touches
Built-in lighting at the top of each of the cabinets adds a little touch of flair especially when they are turned on at night. Minimal drilling was used to manufacture this project in order to give a clean and clutter-free finish. Mirrors at the back of the open shelves in the central media unit further enhance this project.
